The Brig Royd Practice based in Ripponden, West Yorkshire, will be moving into brand new purpose-built accommodation in the village next summer. The six GP practice has operated in Ripponden since the 1960s and has outgrown their existing premises on the Halifax Road. They currently serve nearly 9,000 patients from Ripponden and the surrounding villages.
The new partly two storey building will be 1,200 m2 and will include an on-site pharmacy. The building will benefit from 30 dedicated car parking spaces. The accommodation, consisting of consulting and treatment rooms together with a large multi purpose room, will enable the practice to continue to grow and to better serve its increasing practice population. The practice is a training practice and this work will be expanded from the new building.
Dr Ben Wyatt commented "We look forward to working in a building appropriate to healthcare in the 21st century."
Construction will start later this month with completion due next summer. The adjoining site is also being developed simultaneously to provide 18 residential dwellings which will be owned by Pennine Housing 2000.
