As part of Apollo's commitment to healthcare development in Wales and following our appointment to deliver Clydach Primary Care Centre, Apollo's Director of Procurement, Rob James, invited the environmental groups from Clydach Junior and Infant Schools to join in with the landscaping at the new £3.5m Primary Care Centre.
On a rainy day in March, 10 junior and 10 infant pupils came to the site with gardening tools and wellington boots and spent a morning and afternoon helping the gardeners plant a variety of plants in the gardens and landscape surrounding the new centre.
Rob James said: "Involving children in our development projects helps the community accept change and take ownership and pride in the building. We hope that the people of Clydach will respect and come to love the new Primary Care Centre."
In addition to the planting, Apollo has sponsored an art competition with three local schools with the winners having their pictures exhibited in the new centre. Also Ysgol Gellionnen and Clydach Primary and Infants have been working on two group projects which will be exhibited in the new Gallery Wing when the building is opened to the public on the 6 April 2009.
Clydach Primary Care Centre is due for completion on the 3 April 2009 and will be our first in Wales. It demonstrates our commitment to high quality, good design, attention to detail and customer focus on our projects, and is widely regarded as the best health facility in Wales. |
