Construction of the Clarence Primary Care Centre commences in West Rhyl

The Clarence House Surgery in West Rhyl and the North Wales Trust are looking forward to occupying a brand new building next year following the recent commencement of works on site by Apollo's local contractor, Watkin Jones.

Apollo were appointed by the Local Health Board in 2006 and have successfully worked in partnership with the Clarence House Surgery, the North Wales NHS Trust, the LHB and Denbighshire County Council to deliver this £4.5m investment in Primary Care in West Rhyl.

The 1800m2 building will have a contemproary design, with accommodation over three floors, including a new pharmacy and 36 dedicated parking spaces.  There will be 18 consulting/treatment rooms plus a minor surgery facility as well as accommodation for Health Visitors and District Nurses. Patients will have acess to both the ground and first floor via a lift and a feature atrium stair, with the second floor dedicated to staff facilities and support office space.

The building offers opportunties for expansion of the Clarence House Surgery as well as the NHS Trust and there is immediate potential for complementary users to share the building with the planned expansion area.

Sally Baxter, the Chief Executive of Denbighshire LHB said:

"it is excellent to see work starting on site for the development of what is a much needed improvement in primary care facilties available for the residents of Rhyl.  The new premises will provide a modern convenient centre for delivery of primary healthcare and for a range of new and enhanced services and we look forward to seeing this in place next year."

The building will be completed next summer and the investment retained by Apollo within its existing property portfolio.
