Bradford’s Girlington Health Centre – developed by specialist primary care developer Apollo Capital Projects Developments is in the running for a major title at the 2015 RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) Pro Yorkshire Awards.
Known as the ‘property Oscars’, the RICS awards honour the most inspirational initiatives and developments in land, property and the built environment.
Apollo Capital Projects Developments has been shortlisted in the ‘Community Benefit’ category of the Yorkshire awards which will be announced on 15 May at a black-tie ceremony, hosted by TV presenter Phil Spencer, at the National Railway Museum in York.
Developed for the Carlton Medical Practice and Girlington Pharmacy, the Girlington Health Centre has regenerated a derelict urban site to create a purpose-built facility for the community.
The striking two-storey building offers flexible space including seven consulting rooms, a treatment room and a fully integrated pharmacy. Built to the BREEAM ‘Excellent’ energy-efficiency standard, energy-saving features incorporated include photovoltaic roof panels, light sensors and natural ventilation.
Artwork created by a community art project with a local primary school is on display in the corridors.
Apollo Capital Projects Developments Development Director Richard Drew says: “To be shortlisted in the ‘Community Benefit’ category of the RICS Pro Yorkshire Awards is a fantastic achievement. For our team, it underlines the success of this purpose-built health centre and the important benefits being delivered for the local community through its state-of-the-art healthcare facilities.”
